Moms tend to come in with very practical questions. Here are the ones we hear first, and how we answer them.

Moms are some of the most organized people we meet. They come in with lists, schedules, backup plans and questions we didn’t even think of.

So this post is for you, mama. Here are the questions we hear first when someone asks about a mommy makeover, and our honest answers.

“What even is a mommy makeover?”

It’s not one single procedure. It’s a combination of procedures, planned together, aimed at changes many women notice after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

At our practice, a mommy makeover may include things like a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast procedures. Which ones? That depends on you. Read more on our mommy makeover in Wellington page.

“Does it include breast procedures?”

It can. Breast procedures may be part of a mommy makeover plan. Whether they make sense for you, and which kind, is something Dr. Clerveus talks through with you at your consult.

“Do I have to do everything at once?”

Not necessarily. Some people prefer combining procedures; others prefer staging them. There are pros and cons to both, and it depends on your health, your goals and your surgeon’s recommendation.

Ask about this directly. It’s one of the most important parts of the plan.

“Who’s going to watch my kids?”

Ha. This is honestly the most common practical question. And it’s a really smart one.

Plan for extra help at home for a while after your procedure. Think about:

  • Who handles school drop-offs and pickups
  • Who does bath time, bedtime and meals
  • How you’ll handle a toddler who wants to be picked up
  • Backup if your main helper gets sick

Your surgeon will tell you about lifting restrictions and activity limits. Build your childcare plan around that.

“What if I want more kids?”

Bring this up. Seriously. Future pregnancies can affect results from some procedures, and your surgeon will want to know your plans. Our West Palm Beach mommy makeover page touches on planning, too.

“Will I look like I did before kids?”

We want to be really honest here. A mommy makeover is about improving areas you’re unhappy with. It isn’t a rewind button. Results vary, and they depend on your body, skin, health and how you heal.

What we can promise is a straight conversation about what’s realistic for you.

“Who does the surgery?”

Michael Clerveus, MD, a board-certified general surgeon. You can read about him on our surgeon page.

“Where will it happen?”

The procedure location is confirmed at your free consultation. Ask about safety, monitoring and the setting. Those are all fair questions.

“How much is it?”

We don’t post prices because every mommy makeover plan is different. You’ll get a personalized quote after your consult. Cherry financing is available, subject to credit approval.

“Can I do the consult with a baby on my hip?”

We love babies. But for a focused conversation, it can help to have someone watch your little one if you can. If you can’t, just let us know and we’ll make it work. You can also start with a virtual consultation from home.

A mom-to-mom style checklist for your consult

  1. Which procedures do you recommend for me, and why?
  2. Should they be combined or staged?
  3. Do breast procedures make sense for my goals?
  4. What help will I need at home?
  5. What are the lifting restrictions with kids?
  6. How do future pregnancies affect this?
  7. What does my quote include?

You deserve this conversation

You spend so much time taking care of everyone else. Taking an hour to get your own questions answered isn’t selfish. It’s smart.
