Before surgery

Preparation timeline

Medical clearance & habits

Complete any required labs or clearance. Stop nicotine in every form — cigarettes, vapes, patches, gum — because it impairs healing.

Medications & supplements

Review every medication and supplement with the team. Some blood thinners, anti-inflammatories, and supplements may need to be paused — only on your surgeon’s instruction.

Home & logistics

Arrange your driver and caretaker, pick up prescriptions, set up a recovery spot with easy-to-reach essentials, and try on your compression garment.

Fasting & prep

Follow fasting instructions exactly. Shower as directed; skip lotions and deodorant on treatment areas if instructed.

Arrival

Wear loose, dark, zip- or button-front clothing. Leave jewelry at home. Bring ID, your garment, and your driver’s contact details.

Checklist

Recovery-spot checklist

  • Absorbent pads or old towels for early drainage
  • Extra garment or a laundry plan — see your written instructions
  • Prescriptions filled and labeled
  • Water, easy meals, phone charger within reach
  • Loose clothing that’s easy to step into
  • Written instructions and the after-hours number by the bed

Caretaker essentials

Your ride home can’t be a rideshare. Someone should stay with you for as long as your surgeon advises after anesthesia. Share this page and your written instructions with them before surgery day.

After surgery

Recovery timeline

Typical ranges for education. Your healing may be faster or slower.

Rest, walk, expect drainage

Short, frequent walks help circulation. Fluid drainage from incisions is common early on and expected after tumescent technique. Keep your garment on as directed.

Garment & first visit

Compression stays on except as instructed for showering. Your first follow-up visit typically falls in this window.

Gradual return

Light activity and desk work may resume per surgeon guidance. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting wait for clearance.

Settling

Swelling continues to resolve gradually; firmness and numbness typically improve over months. Final contour takes time.

FAQ

Instruction questions

Can I shower after liposuction?

Timing depends on your dressings and surgeon protocol.

How long do I wear compression?

Duration varies by plan and surgeon preference; follow your written instructions. Full-torso Lipo 360 plans typically use a full-torso garment.

When can I fly after surgery?

Travel soon after surgery raises clot risk. Ask your surgeon for personal guidance.

Is drainage normal?

Some fluid drainage from small incisions is common in the first days after tumescent liposuction. Drainage that is bloody, foul-smelling, or increasing should be reported.

What if my instructions differ from this page?

Follow your written instructions. This page is general education only.
