Lipo 360 Recovery — What to Expect After Circumferential Contouring

Recovery is individual. The timeline below is a plain-language sketch so you can plan work, childcare, and help at home — not a protocol. Your surgeon’s written instructions always win. Results and downtime vary.

Phased overview

A week-by-week mental model

Exact days differ by anatomy, zones treated, and how you heal. Physical jobs and athletic goals need a longer buffer.

Day of surgery

Outpatient when appropriate. A responsible adult drives you home. Compression goes on as directed. Rest, short walks indoors, and medication as prescribed.

Days 1–3

Peak soreness and drainage sensation for some patients. Swelling and bruising are normal. Hydration, garment compliance, and avoiding nicotine matter.

Days 4–10

Many people feel more mobile. Desk work often resumes on a timeline your surgeon will advise when cleared. Driving only when you are off impairing medications and can react safely.

Weeks 2–4

Bruising fades; swelling is still present. Light activity expands per instructions. Garment schedule may change — follow your plan, not social media.

Weeks 6–12+

Contour continues to refine as residual swelling settles. Final photographs are often timed later. Early mirror checks are not final results.

Practical planning

Set yourself up before surgery day

  • Arrange a ride and an adult to stay the first night if advised
  • Fill prescriptions ahead of time
  • Stage loose clothing that fits over a compression garment
  • Clear a sleep setup that keeps you somewhat elevated if instructed
  • Plan protein-forward, easy meals and water within reach
  • Pause nicotine and non-approved supplements per your written pre-op instructions

Call the office promptly if you notice

  • Sudden one-sided severe swelling or shortness of breath
  • Fever, spreading redness, or drainage that worries you
  • Calf pain/swelling or chest pain
  • Uncontrolled pain or reactions to medication

Emergency: if you have a medical emergency, call 911. For urgent concerns, call our office at 561-363-5538. When in doubt, err on the side of calling. This list is educational, not exhaustive.

Compression & activity

Garments, exercise, and scars

Compression

Compression garment instructions are included in your written post-op instructions. Proper fit matters — too loose under-supports; too tight can cause problems. Ask before modifying or stopping early.

Exercise

Walking early is usually encouraged. Strength training and high-impact work return on a staged schedule. Pushing too soon can prolong swelling.

Incision care

Incisions are small but still need clean care. Scar appearance evolves for months. Follow product and sun-protection guidance you are given.

FAQ

Recovery questions

How long until I see my ā€œrealā€ result?

Early shape is distorted by swelling. Many patients notice progressive improvement over weeks to months. Your surgeon will set photo checkpoints. Results vary.

Can I fly home after surgery?

Travel timing depends on your plan and risk factors. Out-of-town logistics are discussed case by case — see out-of-town patients.

Will I need lymphatic massage?

Whether lymphatic massage is recommended is explained in your written post-op instructions. Only follow modalities your surgeon endorses; unvetted ā€œrecovery clinicsā€ can do harm.

What if I am unhappy with an irregularity?

Some contour irregularities improve as swelling resolves. Persistent concerns are evaluated in follow-up. Revision is a separate clinical and financial discussion — never assumed.
