Revision liposuction
Revision Liposuction — A Careful Second Look at Irregularities and Asymmetry
If an earlier liposuction left dents, ridges, uneven sides, or residual fullness, a revision may help — or it may not. Revision is technically harder than a first procedure because of scar tissue and thinner fat layers. We start by understanding what happened before promising anything. Results vary.

What revision can address
Matching the problem to the right fix
Every row depends on exam findings. Some concerns are best left alone; we’ll say so.
Timing
Why waiting usually matters
Typically before considering revision
- Swelling from the first procedure has fully settled
- Tissues have softened and scar has matured
- Weight has been stable for several months
- You’ve had a follow-up with the original surgeon where possible
Red flags that need prompt attention instead
- A firm, growing, or painful swelling — possible fluid collection
- Redness, warmth, fever, or drainage
- Skin color changes or wounds that won’t heal
- These are medical concerns, not cosmetic ones — contact your surgeon or seek care
Before your consultation
What to bring
We review your history privately and never comment publicly on another practice’s work.
- Operative report from the prior procedure (request it from the original practice; our records page explains how requests work)
- Dates of surgery and any follow-up treatments
- Photos from before your first procedure, if you have them
- A list of what bothers you most, in order
- Current medications and any changes in health since the first surgery
Expectations
What success looks like in revision
Improvement over perfection
The goal is a smoother, more balanced contour — not an untouched look.
Possibly staged
Some corrections are safer in steps, especially when fat grafting is involved.
Longer swelling
Scarred tissue can swell longer than after a first procedure.
Clear cost conversation
Revision fees are discussed up front.
FAQ
Revision liposuction questions
My first surgery was somewhere else. Can you still help?
Often, yes — we’ll review your records and examine you. Sometimes the original surgeon is the best person to correct their own work; we’ll be honest if that’s the case.
How soon can I have a revision?
Usually not until swelling and scar have settled — your surgeon will advise on timing. Early intervention can make results harder to judge.
Can fat transfer fix dents?
It can improve some depressions. Not all grafted fat survives, so more than one session may be needed.
Will a revision fix loose skin?
Usually not. Removing more fat under loose skin can make it look looser. An excision procedure may be discussed. Lipo vs tummy tuck →
Is revision riskier?
It can be more complex because of scar tissue and thinner fat layers. Risks include further irregularity, fluid collections, and numbness. Risks & safety →
