Thigh Liposuction in Wellington — Inner and Outer Thigh Contouring, Done Conservatively
Thighs are really several different zones — inner, outer, front, and the area just above the knee — each with its own skin and fat behavior. Good thigh planning respects those differences and favors smooth, conservative contour over aggressive volume. Results vary.

The anatomy
Inner, outer, front, and knee zones
The outer thigh (sometimes called saddlebags) often holds firm, localized fat and tends to respond well when skin is good. The inner thigh has thinner, more delicate skin — great care is needed to avoid irregularities, and laxity limits results more quickly.
The front thigh and the area just above the knee can be addressed in selected patients, usually to improve leg proportion rather than to make a dramatic change.
Cellulite is a separate structural issue involving connective-tissue bands. Liposuction does not treat cellulite and can sometimes make dimpling more noticeable if fat is removed too aggressively.
What patients often describe
- Inner thighs that rub when walking
- Outer-thigh fullness that widens the hips in fitted pants
- Thighs out of proportion with a slimmer upper body
- Fullness just above the knee
- Difficulty finding pants that fit both waist and thigh
Candidacy honesty
When thigh liposuction tends to make sense
Only an in-person exam can confirm candidacy. “Not yet” or “a different procedure” are legitimate answers.
Often a reasonable fit when
- Localized fat with good skin tone — especially for inner thighs
- Stable weight
- Goals focused on proportion and smoother lines
- Acceptance that cellulite is not treated by liposuction
- Ability to wear compression consistently
Another conversation may fit better when
- Loose, crepey inner-thigh skin after weight loss
- Cellulite is the main concern
- Swelling conditions of the legs that need medical evaluation first
- Expectations of a large change in leg shape from bone or muscle
When skin laxity dominates the inner thigh, a thigh-lift discussion may fit better. Leg-swelling conditions are evaluated medically before any cosmetic plan.

How the thighs connect to the rest of the lower body
The lower-body silhouette runs from the waist through the hips into the thighs. Balance matters more than any single zone.

Procedure overview
What thigh liposuction typically involves
A general sketch. Your operative plan, anesthesia, and consent documents define the specifics.
Standing markings
Inner, outer, and front zones are marked upright to capture asymmetry and how fat hangs.
Tumescent preparation
Dilute fluid prepares each zone for comfort and reduced bleeding.
Zone-specific technique
Outer thighs and inner thighs are contoured differently, with extra caution on thinner inner-thigh skin.
Compression & discharge
Compression garments go on before you leave; outpatient discharge with an adult when appropriate.

Recovery
Recovery notes specific to the thighs
Your written instructions override this page. Desk-type work often resumes on a timeline your surgeon will advise when cleared; physical jobs take longer.
Walking and stairs
Walking is usually encouraged early; stairs and long periods standing may feel heavy for a while.
Swelling below
Swelling and bruising can drift toward the knees and ankles. Elevation and compression as directed help.
Exercise
Running, cycling, and leg workouts return in stages. Friction from activity can irritate healing tissue early.

FAQ
Thigh liposuction questions
Will thigh liposuction get rid of cellulite?
No. Cellulite involves connective-tissue bands, not just fat volume. Liposuction can reduce fullness but does not smooth cellulite and can sometimes make it more visible.
Can liposuction create a thigh gap?
A gap between the thighs depends heavily on hip-bone width and leg alignment. We focus on proportion and smoothness rather than promising a specific look.
Is inner-thigh liposuction riskier for irregularities?
Inner-thigh skin is thinner, so conservative, even technique is especially important. Contour irregularity is among the risks discussed at consult. Risks →
How long will my legs be swollen?
Leg swelling can persist longer than in upper-body areas because of gravity. Most swelling improves over weeks, with refinement continuing for months.
Can I treat outer thighs and hips together?
Often, yes — they form one continuous curve. Whether to combine depends on safe limits and your anatomy.
